5 day break to Dorset, staying at the Sandbanks Hotel, Poole

Day 1

We depart for Poole, making comfort stops en-route including a suitable lunch stop. Arriving at the Sandbanks Hotel this afternoon.

Day 2

Take in the spectacular views as you cruise through beautiful Poole Harbour and along the start of the Jurassic Heritage Coast. Start your day on charming Poole Quay before boarding the cruise to the Victorian resort of Swanage, passing Brownsea Island, the beaches of Studland Bay and the opening cliffs of the Jurassic coast - Enjoy a Fish & Chip Lunch on board the boat.

Swanage was transformed during the Victorian era into a seaside resort and has now settled down into an atmospheric town with a long beach, interesting shops, fresh air and delicious food. Be transported back in time on a memorable journey through Purbeck countryside on the award-winning heritage Swanage Railway.

Day 3

Today we make our way to Christchurch where we visit Highcliffe Castle, enjoy a private talk accompanied by tea and cake.

Highcliffe Castle has been described as arguably the most important surviving house of the Romantic and Picturesque style of architecture, which flourished at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. Its significance is recognised nationally by its Grade I status on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural and Historical Interest.

The Castle sits in 14 acres of land from the manicured Parterre by the Wintergarden to woodland connecting up to Steamer Point Nature Reserve. Woodland walks, outstanding view points and excellent picnic sites make the grounds very popular. First inspired by the work of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, the grounds and estate at Highcliffe Castle have seen many changes through the centuries but still retain some of Capability Brown’s original alterations.

After our visit, we rejoin the coach and make our way to Bournemouth for some free time.

Day 4

We have a day at leisure to relax and enjoy the facilities of the hotel.

Day 5

We depart after breakfast, making our way home with comfort stops en-route and a suitable lunch stop. Arriving back in East Sussex this afternoon.
