5 day break to Devon & Cornwall, staying at the Copthorne Plymouth Hotel
Day 1
We depart for for Devon, making comfort stops en-route, including a suitable lunch stop. Arriving at the Copthorne Plymouth Hotel learly evening.
Day 2
Our first visit is to the Grade II listed port of Charlestown, featured in TV’s popular drama series ‘Poldark’. The harbour was built in the 18th century to support the china clay and copper mining industries. Here we visit the Shipwreck Treasure Museum, telling the story of the port, ships and wrecks along this part of the coast.
For our lunch stop we move on to Mevagissey with a maze of narrow streets around the harbour.
This afternoon we make our way to Looe. The popular seaside town of Looe can keep visitors entertained all year round and retains its character as a bustling working fishing port.
Day 3
The day is free for you to explore the historic city of Plymouth. Take a stroll around the famous Hoe, visit the Barbican Steps and browse around the city centre shops.
Day 4
For our final outing we drive to rugged Bodmin Moor and stop at Jamaica Inn. With its Daphne Du Maurier associations and a museum filled with smuggling artefacts collected over many years.
From here we travel to the North Cornwall coast and Tintagel with its dramatic castle ruins, and also the pretty harbour at Port Isaac, setting for TV’s Doc Martin.
Day 5
We depart the hotel after breakfast, making our way home with comfort stops, including a suitable lunch stop. Arriving back in East Sussex early evening.
